PASSAGE POINT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

Passage Point is a transitional housing facility where women leaving prison are reunited with their children and can practice parenting and self-sufficiency skills in a supportive environment. Seventy-five women and up to one-hundred and fifty children from toddlers to teenagers occupy this rural site, formerly a drug rehabilitation center. J+S initially completed a Vision Plan for KCHA, introducing the idea to the community then teamed with the Miller|Hull partnership to develop the Master Plan, and completed the project design with SMR Architects. Site design included play areas, community gathering areas, quiet garden nooks for reflection, terraced entry courtyards, security and transportation issues, and wetland mitigation.
