We are helping the Rainier Beach community transform an unused scrap of public right of way along the main arterial into a mini-park that will be an outdoor chess venue, a neighborhood landmark, and gathering space. The project builds on community pride in Police Detective Cookie Bouldin’s work with urban youth, teaching self-esteem and good decision making skills through chess.
