J+S developed the overall site plan for this 9-acre high bank Hood Canal site with spectacular views of the Olympics. We also collaborated with MWWorks on design of the Little House, which is indeed tiny (and won an AIA National Honor Award), leaving the majority of the site for close-to-nature play areas and a network of trails that overlook an active eagle’s nest among the older growth on the steep bluff and lead to the beach and kayak platform. A view deck compass identifies mountain peaks and other landmarks. An overriding design goal was to weave new activities seamlessly into the natural environment.
