Steve Southerland

Steve Southerland

Partner Emeritus

Steve has over 30 years of experience as both an architect and structural engineer.  Steve has led the architectural side of our practice from 2007 to 2018.  Before co-founding Johnson+Southerland, Steve was a principal at the Miller|Hull Partnership. His focus for the past 20 years has been on public and non-profit clients with an emphasis on planning, laboratories, independent schools and higher education facilities as well as supporting landscape projects such as parks and playgrounds. At a management retreat, when asked to choose a picture that best illustrates his motivation, he picked the above image and described it as “creating a safe place for learning.”
