Working as Principal-in-Charge for the Miller|Hull Partnership, Steve Southerland provided design, project management and construction administration services for the laboratory addition and renovation project. The project includes a 6,000 square foot office building adjacent to the existing laboratory facility elevated over parking and storage. The new office space provides for three distinct regulatory groups within the King County/Metro Environmental Lab staff as well as conference and break room. The project provides for a common entry to both facilities via a two story lobby. Johnson+Southerland (as MEJLA) developed concepts to keep the entry feeling publically accessible and attractive. The solution includes public art and plantings that express environmental themes of King County Metro. We completed design through construction administration, coordinating the work of multiple disciplines in a very tight site.
